Single Review: Nick Aslam- Doing It All Again

Billed as one UK’s hottest rising singer-songwriters. Burton-on Trent’s Nick Aslam certainly doesn’t disappoint. If his catchy new single ‘Doing It All Again ‘ is anything to go by then this gifted musician is most definitely going places. As a self-proclaimed product of his environment, Nick draws inspiration for his music from the gritty council estates and streets that he grew up on.

Boasting impressive falsetto vocals, he describes his sound as a fusion Folk, Indie and Country which in part is reminiscent of music legends Johnny Cash, Neil Diamond, David Bowie and Paul Simon to name but a few. Some music pundits have even described him as a “smooth blend of  Andy Williams meets Jake Bugg”. However, it is hard to disacknowledge the fact that this is an artist who is intricately carving out a musical niche of his very own. As a consequence, this makes him virtually impossible to pigeonhole, which is quite often the case when witnessing the making of a real star.

Nick’s musical journey that spans over 4 years and he has already enjoyed airplay on radio stations nationwide. The current single ‘Doing It All Again’ is an infectious melody destined to provide nothing but sheer delight to festival goers in summer for years to come. Needless to say, he has already played a number of festivals this year and can proudly claim to have supported The Hoosiers and Big Country in the same year.

After hearing ‘Doing It All Again’, most contemporary music lovers will be pleading for more and the good news is that you won’t have to wait for a very long time. Fortunately, I have it on good authority that Nick is set to release his next single early in 2019, so watch this space. For now, enjoy this early melodious Christmas gift that is Nick Aslam’s ‘Doing It All Again’.
