Interview: Cryptic Culture

Continuing our series of written interviews with unsigned and independent artists, we had the opportunity to submit questions to Glasgow based band Cryptic Culture.

How did the band form?

It all started with Sean and Jordan getting guitars and just jamming. Further down the line, Dylan was added in and that’s when we decided we wanted to take this thing seriously. He suggested that we bring in his friend Ally who took over the drummer role or as we like to put it our “professional counter” and realizing we needed a bassist to fully complete our sound Ally suggested we bring in Caleb. After a few rehearsals with the band, Caleb was a fully fledged member completing the Cryptic Culture line up.

How would you describe your music?

Our music falls under the genre of alternative rock. Each member has their own individual musical tastes and different influences which is clear in Cryptics sound. With our long technical outros, gritty vocals and obscure song structures, in my opinion, we have created a new genre “Cryptic Rock”.

Have you released any new music recently?

The most recent release that we did was a lyric video of one of our signature songs “Terror” that our guitarist Dylan created for us. It can be found on our Spotify page and our YouTube channel. We are also working towards recording a few singles in the coming months.
4) What are your gigs like?

Would you consider playing in England?

We’d love to play shows in England at some point. Our bassist’s dad lives in Newcastle and he’s been to a few gigs there, the live music scene is fantastic and it would be great to expand our fanbase as much as possible.
